Margaret (sometimes called Marina) was a saint, said to have been swallowed by a dragon and to have burst her way out. She was notably not rescued by anyone else and was was called on by women in childbirth (although here the subject and object have surely got mixed up!). To me, her legend speaks to those times of being in the belly of the beast, the dark, consumed, trapped – whether this is through depression, grief, addiction, loss or the actual night of a long winter. It reminds me that there are stories we can call upon to help us too break out of what seems to have swallowed us whole.

Unlike almost everyone on social media, I do not claim to have the answers or the way out. This website is a repository for my writing, which keeps me sane whilst kicking at the sides and may bring enjoyment or inspiration for you to do the same. In time I will run some workshops to inspire you further.
